At companies like HFW, every job is meaningful. 

Before we can expect the next generation of the workforce to join the trades en masse, we have to change the perceptions that prevent many of them from considering the trades as a viable path for success.

In a world where so many people are unhappy at workplaces that exploit them, we work hard every day to break the mold and create fulfilling, rewarding careers.

It has traditionally been difficult for us to concisely explain what we do. At its core, though, it is quite simple.

After some reflection, I have identified four values that (in my opinion) get to the heart of what we are about at HFW. They may not be perfect, but I think they come pretty close to capturing the essence of what has kept HFW churning as a business for 75 years.

Our new PTA machine (Plasma Transferred Arc) is an upgrade from our previous 20-year-old model. The PTA machine provides higher quality welds due to less dilution of the base material. This increases the hardness of the weld.

Thermal spraying is when a coating material (in powder, rod or wire form) is heated to a designated temperature and then propelled in a molten state onto a substrate. The result is a mechanically bonded coating that will restore size or protect the substrate in the application.

Over the last two years, HFW has greatly expanded its CNC machining capabilities—from the addition of new state-of-the-art machinery to a team of highly skilled CNC specialists.
