EXTENDING EQUIPMENT LIFE THROUGH INNOVATION

With more than 75 years of experience, HFW Industries, Inc. understands the threat that wear and corrosion pose to our customers’ precision industrial equipment. For example, a chemical company noticed some irregularities in its manufacturing process. One of the company’s suppliers was improperly stripping the coating from its rolls in such a manner that the rolls had inconsistent wall thickness.

The chemical company contacted HFW’s sales engineers, who reviewed the issue and recommended changing the machining methods used for reconditioning and the application process of the coating. HFW then developed a proprietary HVOF-applied coating to replace the company’s pre-existing plasma-sprayed chrome oxide coating. This proprietary coating increased the life of the company’s rolls from six months to more than five years. The application has now been used for approximately 20 years and has consistently produced high-quality results.
