Steam Turbine Repair for Critical Components

HFW supports utilities, OEMs, and repair organizations with critical steam turbine components that need more than a single operation.

  • Valve discs, seats, stems, rotors, shafts, journals, blades, buckets, housings, and fit-critical parts
  • Complete machining for steam turbine components that need coordinated repair or manufacture
  • HVOF thermal spray coatings, hardfacing, and weld overlay for wear, corrosion, or fit restoration
  • Precision grinding to final size, finish, and fit requirements
  • EMRO inspection, TIR checks, and quality documentation

That coordinated workflow gives reliability, planning, and procurement teams one supplier when coating, machining, grinding, and inspection all affect the outcome.

An OEM once needed a turbine component 13 days earlier than planned for a refinery customer. HFW moved up the schedule and shipped a week ahead of the expedited date.

Steam turbine rotor repair and shaft work with machining, HVOF coating, precision grinding, EMRO inspection, and TIR checks.

Blades, Buckets, and Wear Surfaces

Steam turbine blades repair, bucket repair, and small wear-surface rebuilds using coating, masking, finishing, and final inspection.

Seal and Bearing Housings

Seal housings and bearing housings repaired or manufactured with bore restoration, coating, machining, and dimensional verification.

Balance Pistons and Labyrinth Seals

Balance pistons, rotating labyrinth seals, shaft sleeves, and spacers restored or manufactured for clearance control and fit-critical service.

Bushings, Couplings, and Parts

Steam turbine components repair for bushings, couplings, ancillary parts, and assemblies that need one accountable supplier.

Proof Point

Stellite® Delamination Stopped for at Least Five Years

A large southeastern utility contacted HFW after Stellite® delamination on steam turbine valve discs and seats made from chromium-molybdenum steel. The valve stems were made from an iron-base superalloy.

HFW controlled preheat, interpass temperature, post-weld cooling, and LP/UT inspection. The repair prevented repeat delamination for at least five years.
