Industrial Equipment Manufacture and Rebuild for Downstream Users

July 21, 2026·By Nolan Watson

Downstream operations run on equipment that can't afford unplanned downtime, from chemical mixers and agitators to processing rolls and shafts. When your machinery wears, corrodes, or fails, the fix may need more than one shop: a coating specialist, a machinist, a grinder, and someone to put it all back together.

HFW does all of it in one facility. Manufacturing engineering, materials expertise, thermal spray coatings, hardfacing, precision machining, precision grinding, and assembly happen in the same ISO 9001:2015 certified facility, with one team responsible for your component from the day it arrives to the day it ships. No tolerance handoffs between vendors, no waiting on a second shop to finish what the first one started. That's how our team can attain tolerances as tight as 0.0002".

We've been doing this for downstream customers for more than 75 years.

HFW's Downstream Capabilities

Across oil & gas, chemical processing, and other downstream industries, HFW manufactures and repairs equipment including:

  • Compressor rods, pistons, and shaft sleeves
  • Valve guides, valve bodies, and stems
  • Mixer and agitator shafts and assemblies
  • Centrifuge components, including screws, barrels, and bowls
  • Pump housings and components
  • Seal and bearing housings
  • Rolls, including feed, idler, godet, and dryer rolls

Whether the issue is wear, corrosion, abrasion, or other destructive forces, our engineering team selects the process and material based on your operating environment, not a default answer.

How We Drive Value for Downstream Customers

HFW is a turnkey manufacturing services provider, and we have a track record of developing long-term relationships with our customers. Our manufacturing engineering department consults with your team to design custom solutions.

In one case, we developed a proprietary coating system for our customer. A chemical processing company came to HFW with rolls failing every two months. Standard thermal spray coating stretched that to four to five months. Then, working directly with the customer's metallurgist, HFW developed HFW 512, a proprietary nickel-based alloy applied via HVOF, built for corrosion with some wear.

Result: roll lifespan went from two months to 5 to 6 years in service, a result now backed by more than 40 years of documented performance data.
