The One-Source Advantage for Turbo-Compression Repair
For nearly 80 years, HFW Industries has manufactured and repaired compression equipment for major OEMs, aftermarket repair shops, and end users across the energy value chain. If you're a reliability engineer, maintenance planner, or procurement lead dealing with worn shafts, degraded seals, or out-of-spec housings, HFW offers something many shops can't: a complete, turnkey solution in one facility.
As a fourth-generation, family-owned company, our mission is to help you solve complex challenges while saving time and money. The relationships we build with reliability and maintenance teams tend to last.

What We Mean by Turnkey
HFW handles the full project scope in one facility: material sourcing, precision machining, thermal spray coating, grinding and finishing, and final inspection. For turbo-compression work specifically, that means we can:
Compressor Shafts, Piston & Tie Rods
- Manufacture complete from bar stock, forging, or casting
- HVOF coat and grind to final dimensional tolerance
- Repair and salvage of worn equipment
- Precision grinding services
Turbine & Compressor Components
- Bearing housings — journal and thrust
- Seal housings — often carbide coated
- Balance pistons and rotating labyrinth seals
- Shaft sleeves and spacers — Colmonoy coated and/or fused
- Liners, cases, and pump equipment
Thermal Spray Coating & Hardfacing
- HVOF and plasma spray coating of shafts, seals, and components
- Thermal Spray Aluminum (TSA) for compressor cases
- Hardfaced weld overlays for worn or damaged surfaces
- Salvage coating of worn parts
Manufacturing & Inspection Services
- Dynamic balancing
- Electrical-Mechanical Runout (EMRO) inspection
- Assembly services
- QC sign-off at every stage of production
Thermal Spray Coatings for Turbomachinery
Thermal spray coatings are central to how HFW extends the service life of turbo-compression equipment. We use HVOF, plasma spray, and hardfacing weld overlay processes. Our engineers select the right coating based on your operating conditions.
- Tungsten Carbide (HVOF) — Best for wear protection in applications under 1,000°F. Delivers high bond strength and dense, hard surfaces that resist abrasion and erosion.
- Chrome Carbide (HVOF) — Used above 1,000°F or when combined wear and corrosion resistance is critical. Common in high-temperature turbine and compressor environments.
- Colmonoy & Nickel-Based Alloys — Applied to shaft sleeves and spacers that require a fused, metallurgically bonded surface for demanding service conditions.
- Stainless Steel & Custom Blends — Used for dimensional restoration, buildup on worn diameters, or when customer or OEM specifications dictate specific material requirements.

EMRO Inspection & Precision Grinding
Quality at the end of the process matters as much as quality at the start. HFW performs Electrical-Mechanical Runout (EMRO) inspection using a proximity sensor with burnished probe areas, ensuring accurate measurement in high-speed rotating components.
Combined with our CNC cylindrical grinding capability — including a recently added 5-axis CNC mill and CNC cylindrical grinder — we routinely hold tolerances to .0002" on turbine and compressor components. Every operation is reviewed and signed off by quality control inspectors at each stage.
Trusted by Reliability Teams & OEMs
HFW Industries is ISO 9001:2015 certified, and our customers in power generation and oil and gas operate where equipment reliability is not optional. Here is what they count on from HFW:
- ISO 9001:2015 Certified — Every operation reviewed and signed off by QC inspectors at each stage of manufacturing and repair.
- Emergency Response Capability — Demonstrated ability to accelerate production schedules by 13+ days for urgent OEM and end-user requirements.
- Nearly 80 Years of Turbomachinery Experience — Veteran machinists, deep process knowledge of coatings, machining, and inspection, and an active mentorship program for the next generation.
