December 2, 2025What Our Customers Say: Reliability, Speed, and One-Source Accountability
By Nolan Watson
Across power generation, chemical processing, and oil & gas, our customers operate in environments where reliability isn’t optional. It’s the difference between staying online and shutting down unexpectedly.
Because of that, we take customer feedback seriously. It helps us understand what truly matters to the engineers, plant managers, and OEM teams who trust us with their most critical components.
Several customers shared comments that, taken together, paint a clear picture of what keeps them coming back to HFW.
1. “Very responsive to crisis and non-standard work scopes.” —J.P.
If you work in power generation, turbomachinery, or chemical processing, you know that not everything goes according to plan. And when machinery goes down, responsiveness becomes everything.
Our one-source model enables responsiveness. When every hour counts, removing vendor handoffs can make a measurable difference.

2. “HFW has one of the best documentation packages I have ever seen.” —S.C.
Strong documentation is critical in high-precision environments.
When multiple vendors touch a part, documentation becomes fragmented. When everything is done in one facility, it becomes unified and reliable. Customers routinely rely on HFW for high-quality documentation and quality assurance. HFW was recently recertified to ISO 9001:2015 by Bureau Veritas.
3. “One of the reasons we like dealing with HFW is the engineering and problem solving support we get. We have always been satisfied with the resolutions to any of our questions or concerns.” —P.W.
Many customers bring us applications that don’t fit neatly into a standard repair category:
- Hardfacing Stellite® onto SA387 valve seats with controlled interpass temperatures
- Rebuilding bearing housings where geometry has drifted over time at 1/3 the cost
- Extending the lives of chemical processing rolls by 30x using our custom HFW 512 alloy
Our engineering team evaluates base metal chemistry, required surface properties, expected loads, allowable distortion, and coating or weld parameters to structure repairs that perform in the field, not just on paper.

4. “The quality of the repairs that I have seen is second to none. The machine work looked excellent. HFW has done an excellent job communicating back and forth on the specifications with me. All of the concerns that I had were expertly addressed.” —W.G.
Quality is the foundation of every service we offer — thermal spray coatings, hardfacing, machining, precision grinding, or assembly. Whether we’re applying HVOF tungsten carbide, rebuilding a turbine rotor journal, or hardfacing a valve disc, the goal is always the same:
A repair that stays in service and performs as expected.
For components operating in corrosive, high-temperature, or high-wear environments, quality isn’t a “nice to have.” It’s the entire value proposition.
5. “The level of work is high and the work is thorough and complete.” —D.B.
This speaks directly to our integrated, one-source workflow.
In many processes, one vendor handles machining, another handles coatings, another handles finishing, and so on. That approach introduces risk: gaps in communication, variation in tolerances, uncontrolled heat input, inconsistent documentation, and longer lead times.
At HFW, machining, thermal spraying, grinding, hardfacing, and assembly all happen under one roof. The result is thorough, consistent, and traceable work.
6. “HFW has always been responsive to our needs, helps solve problems and provides a great product with the correct documentation.” —P.W.
This comment neatly summarizes the value customers experience:
Technical competence + responsiveness + quality + documentation = reliability.
It’s the practical benefit of a vertically integrated manufacturing model.

7. “You are by far my favorite vendor to work with, and your team has always stepped up to the plate to support our typically emergent needs.” —D.P.
Our team strives to build deep relationships with our customers, allowing us to provide customized, emergency solutions that help get your equipment back up on running at a moment's notice.
How These Testimonials Align With Our One-Source Services
These comments reflect the strengths customers consistently highlight:
Thermal Spray Coatings
Up to 30x life extension with HFW 512 (a custom alloy). Other coating processes include HVOF-applied tungsten carbide, electric arc, plasma spray, and Rokide® ceramics, applied in a controlled environment with precision grinding and machining in-house.
Hardfacing & Weld Overlay
Metallurgically bonded overlays using Stellite®, tungsten carbide, cobalt-based alloys, nickel-based alloys, and Sprayweld. Our processes are backed backed by correct preheat, interpass, dilution control, and decades of experience codified in HFW specifications and work procedures to ensure quality and repeatability.
Precision Machining
Large and small components, exotic alloys, tight tolerances, complex geometries — all engineered to support coating and welding.
Precision Grinding & Finishing
Tolerances to 0.0002”, surface finishes to 2 Ra, and ID grinding up to 36”. Such precision is critical for high-speed rotating equipment.
Assembly & EMRO Testing
HFW can assemble your components and perform final inspection, including electrical mechanical runout (EMRO).
