January 24, 2023We recently added a new machine to our facilities
Our new PTA machine (Plasma Transferred Arc) is an upgrade from our previous 20-year-old model. The PTA machine provides higher quality welds due to less dilution of the base material. This increases the hardness of the weld.
Eliezer Casillas, welding and thermal spray supervisor, stated “Stronger microstructure” as one of the benefits of the PTA machine. PTA welding enables a metallurgical bonding with the base materials. The PTA’s versatility allows it to weld many alloys.
This machine aids in corrosion and wear prevention through superior weld quality. Ultimately this helps us get out parts quicker, stronger, and longer lasting for our customers in the field.
“This machine increases our capabilities” -Matt Watson, HFW VP. With increased capabilities come more and new opportunities for HFW. We now have a more reliable and efficient machine that will help HFW keep the industrial world running.
