The world is a pretty great place if you tune out the negativity.
The world is a pretty great place if you tune out the negativity.

If you believe the world is an ugly place, you will find a lot of support for that assertion.
Nasty social media fights where people spew vitriol and hatred.
Always-on news that highlights every horrific crime and act of humanity.
Politicians and talking heads who will do their damnedest to convince you that the other side of the aisle is a bunch of wicked animals.
Enough.
This doesn’t have to be the way.
When you turn the screen off, what I have found is that the world is actually a pretty decent place.
Most people care, at least somewhat, for those around them.
Most people are fairly open to others, and will let you be who you are if you let them be who they are.
In other words, most people coexist.
The problem is that coexistence doesn’t generate clicks. It is the exceptions—the hatred, the mass chaos, the unthinkable crimes—that make money, that drive dialogue and push agendas forward. The news media and the internet would both be dull places if it was sunny and 75 every day. So it’s understandable how we have gotten to this place.
The world is often what you make of it, though.
When you walk into our shop at HFW Industries, Inc., just as in millions of other workplaces across America, you will find a diverse group of people working together. We even (mostly) like each other!
Men and women. Young and old (…I mean, “more experienced”). White, Black and Hispanic.
It’s an environment that the internet may convince you isn’t possible.
But that’s the thing: the internet isn’t reality.
When I take stock of the world through my own eyes, I have been relieved to find that the world isn’t half bad. There is a lot more “good” in the world than we give it credit for.
Tune out the noise and smell the roses. You will be better off for it!
