Being the best employer we can be

In a world where so many people are unhappy at workplaces that exploit them, we work hard every day to break the mold and create fulfilling, rewarding careers.

It pains me to see how depressing the workplace is to many Americans.

With mental health increasingly a priority, we cannot expect strong performance when a large percentage of the workforce is mistrusting, miserable or discontent at work.

People deserve the right to be happy.

All of this is why HFW Industries, Inc. is committed to being the best employer we can possibly be.

As a manufacturer, we are very invested in maintaining a positive work environment where everyone on our team has the opportunity to be the best version of themselves every day.

Sometimes it’s the little things: a better coffee machine improved our guys’ workday on the shop floor (and only happened because of our guy Matt’s suggestion—thanks Matt!).

Sometimes it’s bigger ideas. Taking cues from Bob Chapman’s Everybody Matters (a book that has fast become my manifesto), we are in the process of developing a training program to take anyone who is willing to work hard and invest in themselves and turn them into master machinists, grinderhands, welders and spray operators.

But, as Bob has done at Barry-Wehmiller, we’re going beyond job training, too. We want to explore what success is to each member of the team. How do you build a life that is fulfilling? How can you take your hard earned money and allow it to give you financial freedom?

We want to be there for our team members, and not in a paternal, “this is what you should do” kind of way, but in more of a “how can we help you build a great life?”

We’re not fully there yet, but we’re working toward it each and every day.

Treating your people well is just the right thing to do. But if you go one step further, it’s also just good business.
